Scene Training from Dubuque County Sheriff's office

January 15, 2018

Ways to remain safe, accurate, and professional in our roles as Fire and EMS Personnel:
Responder safety is your #1 priority.
Maintain situational awareness.
If something seems suspicious, we should call law enforcement.
Try to refrain from having tunnel vision.
Be alert to things on the way to and in the vicinity of the scene.
When arriving on scene and going into a residence or structure, identify yourself at entry.
Be sure to fully document all actions and details of department personnel.
Also document things you see/hear/smell/feel at the scene.
A well written report can provide invaluable information, and even keep you out of court and off the witness stand.
If you didn't document it, it didn't happen.

Special Thanks to Captain Dale Snyder with the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office for conducting our training this evening.
A big thank you to Firefighter Todd Latham for doing maintenance on our rigs today in advance of our training this evening.
